Karnataka Brahmin Nala Paka

The Smartha brahmins from Karnataka have their own unique dishes.

The breakfast usually comprises of preparations such as Idli with Chutney and Huli, Masala Dosa with Chutney and Huli, Poori with Potato Pallya or Saagu to name a few. Lunch and dinner usually contains Rice with Saaru, Chapati with any vegetable palya, Rice with Huli, a palya and always concluded with curd rice.

The menu served in any marriage always contains the same dishes served in a particular order on a banana leaf. The dishes are always laid out in the same manner on a banana leaf beginning with a shavige payasa served at the right end corner of the leaf.
